As a part of WP. 4 "Experimental tests" which aims to carry out experimental activities that enables the performance assessment of the two systems, a team of Polimi in cooperation with ANME made calibration for the monitoring system in Tunisia during the period of 9-12 June 2008.

By the beginning of March 2008, MEDISCO started the installation of the solar cooling system in Tunisia. The Partners from Polimi, ANEME, Domani Nefris, PSE "The Fresnel collectors manufacturers" from Germany and Electrosystem from Italy worked toghether to ensure proper installation and commissioning of the system.

CDER, Polimi, Tecsol and Photothereme -the Moroccan X partner- visited the milk factory Le Bonlait where the solar system to be installed. the visit included collecting information about the processes and existing cooling system.

The market potential analysis of the solar cooling technologies in the food & agro industry sector has started. The study aims to identify which industries would most benefit from the application of solar cooling technologies, on the basis of their cooling demand profile. A survey is being conducted among several companies in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.

A comprhensive evaluation of medium temperature solar themal collectors has started. The evalutaion aims to select the most appropriate collectors for the two experimental sites. Collector manufacturers are being contacted in order to assess performance, durability, production capacity and cost of their products.

Kick-off meeting in Taormina |

The MEDISCO kick-off meeting has been held in Taormina on November 25-28, 2006. The project rules and the work organisation have been presented by the project coordinator and work package leaders to the attendees, coming from Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Spain & Tunisia. The first working meeting will be held in Egypt on May, 2007, when the preliminary results of work packages 1 & 2 will be presented to the project consortium.
